Hi, new to AfterLogic so please forgive me if I'm asking something obvious

I've got about 60 "personal" contacts in my address book and have created a Group of 50 of them

I have the number of contacts per page set to 100 so I can see them all easily

When I access the group and click the "email group" button nothing happens

Played around with this for a while and if I set the number of contacts per page to 30 or less then clicking the "email group" button works, a blank email is created and the first 30 names are placed in the "To" box

Deleted a few names just to check that the 31st contact wasn't the problem, no change - can only ever get 30 to appear in the "To" field.

Think I read on one of the other posts and answers that the maximum number of addresses in a group is 300, so I am well within that.

Am I missing something here?

Many thanks

Duncan

That's rather strange, I wasn't able to reproduce the problem no matter what. I've created 31 contacts in address book, added them all to the group and was able to see them all in To field. I've uploaded sample CSV file, and I've tested this on Live Demo. See if you can get that working there. Presumably, the limits might be about total length of recipient lists in characters, not entries.

Hi Igor
Took the CSV file and loaded it and it worked ok, so then did a bit more testing following up on the maximum length for the recipient list and found that there must be a restriction as when the 'name' had 22 characters and there were 31 in the list it was fine but with 23 characters names and 31 in the list then the "group email" button does nothing as I described in my original post.

By my reckoning that makes the limit somewhere between 682 characters and 712 characters.

The mailing list I want to use will have around 100 names that means I'm limited to 6 or 7 character names - if I was using the full 300 names then that would me 2 to 3 chars per email address

Is there any way this limit can me increased?

Thanks

Duncan

Looks like it's caused by the limit on the size of parameters in GET query. No, it cannot be easily increased.

Alex

Hi Alex

That's a shame

Can it be added to the list of things to look at / fix in the next major release?

In the meantime I have got round it be installing the "email to group name" plug in

Doesn't fix the problem on the contacts page but when writing a mail it lets you use the group name in the To box
