we have developed our own HR system to manage emails etc and we would like to use our own API so that Webmail Lite can automatically get the list when the users click Contacts.

Is this possible?

If you wrap calls of our API with yours, this will work.

Note that if you're doing customizations to WebMail Lite API or any part of WebMail Lite, you must publish these changes, such as create a fork on Github or something like that (because AGPLv3 license requires that) unless commercial licensing was purchased.

Alex

API reference for contacts can be found here. However, this is more about using WebMail API from another app, not the other way around. If you need WebMail to fetch contacts from external source, this plugin might help.
